Selling your timber through the bid process is the best way to ensure that you receive the highest possible price for your timber. Due to today’s world wide timber markets, it is no longer the case that the sawmill closest to your woodlot will necessarily be able to pay you the most for your timber. It is not uncommon for the successful bidder to be 100 miles or more away from a woodlot. A highly competitive marketplace has forced individual sawmills to develop niche markets for the products that they produce, therefore it is important that we find the right buyer for your timber.
When I supply a Bid Notice outlining all of the job requirements, timber buyers can be assured that the process will be fair and honest and that they are competing with other buyers under the same set of circumstances. In addition, the landowner can be sure that they are comparing “apples to apples” upon reviewing the bids.
The following is a list of some previous timber sale results. As you can see, the price range is often significant. This is primarily due to the different markets available to each bidder, and further illustrates why it is important to place your timber on the open market.
